Obama's Lowlights (9/10/10)

Trump – Word is out that Donald Trump is going to buy the location where Feisal Abdul Rauf intends to build the Muslim culture center.

The Economy – Economists have lowered the second quarter growth rate of the gross domestic product from 2.4% to 1.6%. The August unemployment rate increased from 9.5 to 9.6%. The economy shed 54 thousand jobs last month and Obama has proclaimed this is a step in the right direction since the private sector added jobs the past 8 months. However, the number of private sector jobs added is not enough to offset the 150 thousand new jobs needed each month just to keep up with population growth. In other news, Obama is calling for another 50 billion in new stimulus spending and another 100 billion in tax credits for businesses. The stimulus spending is another waste of more taxpayer dollars and the business tax credits are too little and much too late.

Mexico Drug Wars – Just 85 miles south of the U.S. border, 72 Central American migrant workers were massacred. Maybe this explains why an amazing 81% of Arizonans support their immigration reform law. On the other hand, one of Barbara Boxer’s aids was busted for trying to bring marijuana into the state building. Maybe this explains why so many Californians are against the Arizona Immigration law.

The Associated Press – They are beginning to fact check the White House claims that the stimulus legislation has been a success. The media is slowly turning on Obama.

Family Debt – The current national debt for all families is around 122% of our gross domestic product or 17 trillion dollars. This debt must come down considerably before families begin spending our way out of this recession. And what’s worse, because of the new Credit Card laws, credit card rates are up to 14.7%.

Glenn Beck – I held this back to see if other stories related to this event materialized. Beck’s rally at the Lincoln Memorial drew nearly a half a million people! Al Sharpton ran a counter protest that garnered a couple hundred people. This event was viewed as controversial because Beck was doing this on the anniversary when Martin Luther King gave his famous “I Have a Dream” speech. The gathering was not political, it merely was asking Americans to turn to their faith and be better people. In other news, it was interesting how the head of the Department of Education was trying to get his employees to attend Sharpton’s counter protest march.

BP – An internal probe of the oil spill places the blame solely on BP engineers. It is interesting how management never accepts the blame. My corporate experience is that management forces engineers to cut corners to save money and at the same time they always place unrealistic schedules for engineers to meet, therefore, reducing quality.

Casinos – With states in a desperate need for income, they are approving more and more casinos openings to increase tax revenues.

Congressional Net Worth – John Kerry continues to be the wealthiest person in Congress with his net worth at 190 million dollars.

Congresswoman Eddie Johnson – The Texas Democratic Congresswoman has come under fire for giving tens of thousands of dollars in college scholarship money to her relatives. This is a direct violation of the Congressional Black Caucus fund she is overseeing.

Race to the Top – This is the secret Obama initiative for education reform. The Department of Education (DOEd) is bribing states to conform to their misguided views on education reform or receive no federal funding for Title I students. The DOEd recently handed out 4.3 billion of stimulus funding to 9 states conforming to their views. The Race to the Top is reform without any official legislation being written, something that is illegal under the Constitution. The executive branch has no authority to create and implement laws - that is the job duty of the legislative branch.
