Obama's Lowlights (10/1/12)

Romeny 47% Comment- “There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax. Romney went on: "[M]y job is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives." How is this different from Obama’s “cling to religion and guns” statement in 2008 or his statement “you did not build that” earlier this summer? How about Obama’s statement that “You can’t change Washington from the inside, you have to do it from outside” this past week?

Indoctrination - Professor Sharon Sweet at Brevard Community College (BCC in Florida) allegedly told students to sign a pledge that reads: “I pledge to vote for President Obama and Democrats up and down the ticket.”

Calories – Students at a Wisconsin school are protesting an 850 calorie maximum limit for school lunches.

Propaganda – Recently uncovered emails show that the DOJ and Media Matters worked together on news stories, particularly covering up the Fast and Furious program.

Unemployment - The Social Security Administration announced a new record number for individuals collecting unemployment. In September, 8,786,049 American workers collected federal disability; this is a net increase of 18,108 from August.

Fast and Furious - The Inspector General’s report confirms findings by Congress’ investigation of a near total disregard for public safety in Operation Fast and Furious. The Justice Department’s inspector general recommended that 14 current federal officials face disciplinary reviews over the botched gun-trafficking investigation known as Operation Fast and Furious. In a scathing report, the inspector general, Michael Horowitz, laid primary blame on what he portrayed as a dysfunctional and poorly supervised group of Arizona-based federal prosecutors and agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. As part of the operation, those officials did not act to seize illegal weapons in hopes of bringing a bigger case against a gun-smuggling network linked to a Mexican drug gang. The IG report also states that Attorney General, Eric Holder, should have turned the programs documents over to congress. In other news, in an interview this past week on Univision, Obama had this say about the program “field-initiated program begun under the previous administration. When Eric Holder found out about it, he discontinued it. This is a flat out lie, the program started under Obama.

Libya – Ten days after the deadly attack on the U.S. embassy the Obama White House has conveniently changed its story that it was indeed a terrorist attack. Even CBS news had a scathing report about the administration’s handling of both before and after the attack.

Obama’s America – According to the CBO six million Americans -- from the middle class -- will pay an ObamaCare tax penalty and the number of adults on food stamps has doubled since Obama suspended the work requirement in welfare. In other news, the Washington Examiner released a story about Obama’s past and to be nice, he did not excel to the top, but had a mediocre rise at best. And no, Obama did not live a childhood of hardship as others may claim. And in case you missed it, the Obama campaign came up with a new version of the American Flag with the Obama “O” replacing the stars.

Obama's Lowlights (9/27/12)

Fed – They are doing another round of quantitative easing in an attempt to right the economy. They are buying up 40 billion in bonds per month.

Libya – From the UK Independent ‘According to senior diplomatic sources, the US State Department had credible information 48 hours before mobs charged the consulate in Benghazi, and the embassy in Cairo, that American missions may be targeted, but no warnings were given for diplomats to go on high alert and "lockdown", under which movement is severely restricted.”

Social Security disability – The government paid out 591 billion in benefits this past year.

Military - The Pentagon is buying Chevrolet Volts to help “green up” the military—while propping up sales of the bailed-out automaker’s most politicized car.

Arab Fall – The spring may have been good, but the fall is looking bad – The US embassy in Tunisia is the latest to get attacked, meanwhile Muslim protestors are outside of several dozen U.S. embassies around the world including the US embassy in London. In other news, the Obama administration is sticking to its position that the deadly attack in Benghazi wasn't premeditated, contradicting U.S. lawmakers and Libya's own president.

First Amendment - In the Daily Caller, Neil Munro reports that the Obama administration has asked YouTube to suppress the offensive film that is the pretext for some of the Islamist rioting. This is, of course, in accordance with the demands of the Muslim brotherhood.

Economy – Consumer Price Index jumps 0.6%, the largest increase since 2009. In other news, the ratings agency Egan-Jones gave the U.S. a credit rating of AA-, down from its solid AA rating.

Media – In an interview where Romney clearly stated a middle class family makes less than 250 or 200 thousand dollars, the media claims he said a middle class family makes between 200 and 250 thousand dollars. Romney has employed hundreds of people, he knows what a middle class family earns.

Chicago Teachers Strike – Word is Mayor Emanuel threatened to sue the union if they failed to get back to work. This is amazing; Democrats love unions so long as they are not using their collective bargaining powers on the Democrats turf. It is okay to rally union support in Wisconsin, but not in Chicago. In fact, Emanuel said the strike was illegal because it endangers the health and safety of students and concerned issues - evaluations, layoffs and recall rights - that state law says cannot be grounds for a work stoppage. "This was a strike of choice and is now a delay of choice that is wrong for our children," Emanuel said in a written statement.

Auto Companies - The Treasury Department is resisting General Motors' push for the government to sell off its stake in the auto maker, The Wall Street Journal reports. Following a $50 billion bailout in 2009, the U.S. taxpayers now own almost 27% of the company.

ObamaCare Propaganda - Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide has been hired by California's health care exchange (the body implementing ObamaCare in the once-Golden-State) using taxpayer money. Part of what it intends to do includes pitching a reality show about families without health insurance -- and seeking to have popular prime-time television shows (like "Grey's Anatomy" and "Modern Family") work the health care law into their plots.

Tax Cuts – The president mocked tax cuts in an Ohio campaign speech “Tax cuts in good times, tax cuts in bad times. Tax cuts in peace, tax cuts in war. Want to make a plane reservation? You don't need a new iPhone, try a tax cut."

Bomb Threats – Following the embassy attacks there have been dozens of bomb threats at major universities across the country.

Occupy Wall Street – The one year anniversary of the movement came and passed with more arrests in New York City.

Obama's Lowlights (9/24/12)

Economy - The unemployment rate for government wage and salaries workers dropped from 5.7 percent in July to 5.1 percent in August. At the same time, the number of government wage and salary workers counted as unemployed dropped by 123,000 people from 1,182,000 in July to 1,059,000 in August. The overall national unemployment rate was 8.1 percent in August.

Farm Bill - 80% of farm subsidies go to only 15% of farmers, most of whom are wealthier and more secure than the average American. (2010 farm household net worth: $576,745—up from $534,727 in 2007; 2010 media household net worth: $77,000—down from $126,400 in 2007). The average crop insurance policy is subsidized $3,591 by taxpayers. Americans do not expect their neighbors to pay for the auto insurance, why should taxpayers pay for their neighbor’s crop insurance? Americans pay $147 million per year to Brazilian cotton producers, so we can continue to subsidize American cotton producers. To avoid trade sanctions for subsidizing US cotton farmers in violation of WTO commitments, the US government also subsidizes Brazilian cotton producers.

Budget - President Obama said it was a "mistake" to criticize Paul Ryan and his budget proposal as strongly as he did during a speech in April 2011. After all, Ryan’s budget proposal passed the House while the President’s budget proposal got no votes in the House or Senate.

9/11 – Obama campaigns on Twitter looking for more volunteers and money, Romney prays on the somber day. Obama broke the 24 hour truce agreement for campaigns by releasing new attack TV ads and a radio broadcast.

Chicago Teachers Strike - Seventy-nine percent of the 8th graders in the Chicago Public Schools are not grade-level proficient in reading, according to the U.S. Department of Education, and 80 percent are not grade-level proficient in math.

Israel - The public feuding between Israel and Washington ratcheted up sharply this past week amid claims that Barack Obama has declined to meet Binyamin Netanyahu during the Israeli prime minister's visit to the US later this month.

Egypt / Libya / Yemen - A mob of Cairo demonstrators scaled the U.S. Embassy walls last week to tear down the American flag in a show of protest against the release of an American movie Egyptians believe insults the prophet Mohammad. The State Department apologized to Egypt and showed more sympathy for the attackers than the victims. Another mob attacked the US Embassy in Libya killing 4 including Chris Stevens our ambassador to Libya. As protestors paraded Stevens’ dead body through the streets Obama continued on his campaign schedule. What’s worse, the consulate where the American ambassador to Libya was killed is an “interim facility” not protected by the contingent of Marines that safeguards embassies. Conditions in the Middle East continued to deteriorate last week as the U.S. Embassy in Yemen was also attacked. In fact, a new poll shows that U.S. / Middle East relations have hit a new all-time low under Obama. And what’s Obama’s response to Romney criticisms of the incidents “He likes to shoot first and aim later”. Where is the left condemning this statement as uncivil – if Romney used the word “shoot” they would claim he is riling up the far right extremists. Finally, let’s not forget how Obama politicized the Iraq War for his gain.

Taliban - A U.N. report released last week said the Taliban raised $400 million last year.

IRS - The IRS has awarded a former UBS banker $104 million for exposing a $20 billion offshore banking scheme.

Voter Fraud - Wendy Rosen, the Democratic challenger to Republican Rep. Andy Harris in the 1st Congressional District, withdrew from the race Monday amid allegations that she voted in elections in both Maryland and Florida in 2006 and 2008.

New York City – A measure passes that will not allow store owners to have cups larger than 16 ounces for soft drinks.

Census Bureau – A new census report shows that the average median income fell 1.5% and poverty rates remained unchanged for 2011.

Obama's Lowlights (9/20/12)

Economy - Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 96,000 in August, and the unemployment rate edged down to 8.1 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported this past week. The labor force has shrunk to 63.5%, the lowest level since 1961. Among the major worker groups, the unemployment rates for adult men (7.6 percent), adult women (7.3 percent), teenagers (24.6 percent), whites (7.2 percent), blacks (14.1 percent), and Hispanics (10.2 percent) showed little or no change in August. The jobless rate for Asians was 5.9 percent.

DNC Merchandise – Members of the media used fake names to purchase Obama merchandise – members of the media are not supposed to support a campaign, they are to be neutral.

Lawyers – The best thing about the Romney / Ryan ticket is that they are not lawyers. Lawyers have a place in our society, but there are too many and they are destroying this country. They don’t build anything, but many make a living off taxpayer money which drives up the cost of many commodities and services due to frivolous lawsuits and their incompetent interpretation of the law. Obama is a perfect example because he continually violates the Constitution by unilaterally passing legislation, rules, regulations, mandates, and expanding the power of the executive branch with more bureaucrats with no oversight (Czars).

Afghanistan - Secretary of State Hillary Clinton delivered a report to Congress formally designating the Haqqani network as a terrorist organization. The network is responsible for the deadliest attacks on American troops in Afghanistan.

DNC – Five million less people watched Obama’s DNC speech this year than 2008. However, his speech was viewed by 5 million more people than viewed Romney’s RNC speech. But the big news for Obama was a 7 point bounce in the polls after the DNC.

Iraq - Iraq's fugitive Sunni vice president was sentenced Sunday to death by hanging on charges he masterminded death squads against rivals in a terror trial that has fueled sectarian tensions in the country. Underscoring the instability, insurgents unleashed an onslaught of bombings and shootings across Iraq, killing at least 92 people in one of the deadliest days this year.

Technology – The Washington Times wrote that the President had no clue on how to operate an iphone and when it was not doing what it thought it should he blamed the manufacturing.

Campaign – Romney raised over 111 million dollars in August and has 165 million dollars on hand. Obama hauled in 114 million dollars in August.

Teacher Unions – Chicago teachers go on strike as they claim “for the kids”.

Economy – For the third straight year Obama gave himself an incomplete grade on the economy.

Lifeguards – Inside Edition exposed lifeguards who make 200 thousand a year and are retired before age 50.

Chevy Volt – Chevrolet loses 49 thousand dollars for every Volt they sell.

New York City – The number of children in homeless shelters reaches 19 thousand.

National Security – From Marc Thiessen: “The Government Accountability Institute examined President Obama’s schedule from the day he took office until mid-June 2012, to see how often he attended his Presidential Daily Brief (PDB) — the meeting at which he is briefed on the most critical intelligence threats to the country. During his first 1,225 days in office, Obama attended his PDB just 536 times —or 43.8 percent of the time. During 2011 and the first half of 2012, his attendance became even less frequent — falling to just over 38 percent. By contrast, Obama’s predecessor, George W. Bush almost never missed his daily intelligence meeting.”

Illegal Immigration - The U.S. government has halted flights home for Mexicans caught entering the country illegally in the deadly summer heat of Arizona's deserts, a money-saving move that ends a seven-year experiment that cost taxpayers nearly $100 million.

Obama's Lowlights (9/17/12)

Campaign – Are we better off today than 4 years ago? As Democrats at the DNC say we are, here are some key statistics: Unemployment: 7.8% then, 8.3% now; Median income: $54,983 then, $50,964 now; Gas prices: $1.85 per gallon then, $3.78 now; National debt: $10.6 trillion then, $15.9 trillion now (with the debt hitting the magic $16 Trillion mark tonight, appropriately); Half of all Americans are now considered "poor" or "low income."; One out of every six Americans is living in poverty -- an increase of millions since Obama took office; Food stamp usage has increased by 45 percent under this president; Average family health care premium costs have increased to roughly $15,000 per year. In other news, Rahm Emanuel left the Obama campaign to raise money for a Super PAC.

Elizabeth Warren - Elizabeth Warren, tried to shift focus from her ongoing Cherokee scandal and dismissed demands from Native Americans who want her to explain her heritage claims at the Democratic National Convention.

DNC – All the speakers claim the president created 4.5 new jobs once the economy began to add jobs. The actual number, according to the Department of Labor, is half that amount. In fact, FactCheck.org has refuted most Democratic fear mongering claims during the DNC. In other news, God and Jerusalem as the capital of Israel were added back into the Democratic platform even though they did not get a two thirds majority from the delegates. Due to lack of attendance Obama had to move his DNC acceptance speech indoors. I particularly enjoyed Sandra Fluke’s speech that women are silenced victims in the US. Maybe she should move to the Middle East.

Washington Posts – In a column Richard Cohen writes “some of the furious opposition to him reeks of a deep, not superficial, racism. To some, Obama just doesn’t look like a president.”

Ironic - Rabbi David Wolpe of Los Angeles’ Sinai Temple, where Monica Lewinsky and her family were congregation members for decades and where Lewinsky attended religious school, delivered the benediction at the Democratic National Convention tonight — not long after Bill Clinton’s speech.

Welfare - In a legal opinion requested by Senator Orrin Hatch, Ranking Minority Member of the Senate Committee on Finance and Representative Dave Camp, Chairman of the House Committee on Ways and Means, the GAO General Counsel's Office determined that the Department of Health and Human Services' recent memo making changes to operation of the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program... must be submitted to both Houses of Congress before it can take effect. This must happen for Obama’s recent unilateral movement to remove work from welfare to go into effect.

Food Stamps - Food stamp use has reached a record high 46.7 million Americans used food stamps in June, reflecting in part the government’s increased promotion of the program.

Crazy - A Boston judge ruled that a convicted murderer has the right to a tax-payer funded sex change operation. The judge determined that the prisoner is entitled to the operation because all prisoners’ health care needs are met by the federal government.

Obama's Lowlights (9/13/12)

Living at Home – According to a study by Ohio State University, one out of every three 25 to 34 years old live at home.

Free Speech – This past week, someone walking through Charlotte's central business district could run afoul of the law by carrying water bottles, hair spray, socks or magic markers under sweeping security rules enacted ahead of the Democratic National Convention.

Welfare – According to the AP this was Romney’s welfare program as Governor of Massachusetts: Romney, Massachusetts governor from 2003 to 2007, fought to require single parents with children as young as a year old to work to get welfare benefits if they could obtain state-subsidized child care. He opposed efforts to allow time spent in job training or education programs to count toward the state's 20-hour weekly work requirement for welfare recipients, and pushed for a five-year lifetime limit on welfare benefits.

Chris Matthews - In an interview with The Hill following the incident with a Romney delegate at the RNC, Matthews told the story and recounted that he said to the gentlemen: “What’s this, a douch#bag convention?” Spoken like a true adult.

Unions - Some union officials refused to go to the DNC after the Democrats chose a labor-unfriendly location in the right-to-work state of North Carolina. Others sent only skeleton staffs to support their union delegates, but say they’re focusing resources elsewhere. Labor groups aren’t shelling out for big events in Charlotte, and many aren’t even donating cash to the cause — despite their exemption from new restrictive fundraising rules. What’s worse, union activists walked a political tightrope at the DNC - voicing support for President Barack Obama's re-election bid while lamenting adversarial attitudes toward organized labor in the state Democrats chose for the presidential convention.

Beer - It’s official, the White House beer recipe is out! Last week White House Press Secretary, Jay Carney, tweeted out the link to the recipe and a video of how to make it.

Afghanistan - US Forces in Afghanistan said they have suspended training new recruits to the Afghan Local Police (ALP) amid a spike in the number of insider attacks which are damaging trust between Afghans and their allies.

Entitlements – According to the Wall Street Journal the growth of entitlement payments over the past half-century has been breathtaking. In 1960, U.S. government transfers to individuals totaled about $24 billion in current dollars, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis. By 2010 that total was almost 100 times as large. Even after adjusting for inflation and population growth, entitlement transfers to individuals have grown 727% over the past half-century, rising at an average rate of about 4% a year.

Biden – In his latest fear mongering campaign speeches he claims Romney wants to go to war in Syria and Iran.

Yahoo News - Yahoo News ran an article saying Paul Ryan’s attempt to fire up his alma mater’s football team (Miami of Ohio) “failed” when they got blown out by Ohio State (Miami was a huge underdog). Where were the Yahoo News articles about Obama’s “failed” NCAA Men’s Basketball bracket?

John Burton – The California Democratic Party Chair leader compared Paul Ryan and the GOP to Nazis (Joseph Goebbels – The propaganda leader)

DNC – To fill the Charlotte stadium the Democrats had to bus in supporters.

Economy – For the third straight year Obama gave himself an incomplete grade on the economy.

Obama's Lowlights (9/10/12)

Fracking - Based on a study of the effects of fracking, forest officials in Wayne National Forest will permit energy firms to extract oil from the park using the technique.

Yahoo News – During the RNC (which Hurricane Issac was hitting Gulf Coast at the same time) Yahoo News reported “They (Republicans) aren’t concerned at all,” said Yahoo News. “They are happy to have a party when black people drown.” Meanwhile, Obama campaigned in Virginia and answered questions online as the Isaac pummeled the Gulf Coast. What got lost in all the campaigning and race baiting: Jesse Shaffer, 25, and his father, also named Jesse Shaffer, 53, both of Braithwaite, La., stayed behind in their town after Isaac hit to rescue 120 of their friends when ocean waters breached levees. Meanwhile, Romney and Ryan visited the ravished Gulf Coast three days before Obama.

MSNBC – The liberal news network did not cover many RNC speeches made by minorities.

Race – Politico turned Ann Romney’s speech into more race baiting. Ann Romney said “And let's be honest. If the last four years had been more successful, do we really think there would be this attack on Mitt Romney's success?” Politico responded “And let's be honest. If the last four years had been more successful, do we really think there would be this focus on race?”

Gas Mileage - After a year of negotiation, the White House finally reached a formal agreement with automakers and unions to raise the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) to a minimum 54.5 mpg by 2025. It is easy to set goals to problems you do not have to find solutions. The bottom line is that cars will be less safe.

RNC – A Washington Post poll found that people who watched the RNC on TV had a much more favorable view of the event than those that did not watch it – those who got their news from biased sources.

Voter ID - A federal court on Thursday blocked Texas from enforcing a strict new voter identification law, ruling that the state had failed to prove that the mandate would not disproportionately suppress turnout among eligible voters who are members of minority groups. I do not understand what race has to do with any decision about trying to combat voter fraud.

Code Pink - Medea Benjamin is the leader of the women's peace and justice group Code Pink. At the RNC the group dressed up as a female sex organs and paraded themselves down the street. Why would they do this? Because Code Pink believes this is a way to gain respect for women.

Wages - A majority of the new jobs added during the recovery have been low paying, according to a new report from the National Employment Law Project.

Obama's Lowlights (9/6/12)

Recession - From June 2009 to June 2012, inflation-adjusted median household income fell 4.8 percent, to $50,964, according to a report by Sentier Research, a firm headed by two former Census Bureau officials. Incomes have dropped more since the beginning of the recovery than they did during the recession itself, when they declined 2.6 percent, according to the report, which analyzed data from the Census Bureau’s Current Population Survey.

Coal - Germany opened one of the largest coal-fired power plants in the world last week. Many environmentalists believe this is a step backwards for a nation so involved in promoting green energy.

No Easy Deal – The new book written by a member of Navy Seal Team 6 that killed Osama Bin Laden could have him facing criminal prosecution.

Campaign Ad - One of the women in the Obama campaign's new video of Republicans supporting the president because of GOP positions on women's rights appears not to be a Republican at all. Maria Ciano who is featured in the web video has been a registered Democrat since October 2006 according to voter registration records.

Investing – New reports have surfaced showing that the Obama’s have financially benefitted from investing in private equity and foreign investments.

Box Office – The movie “2016 Obama’s America” was third in gross revenues this past week.

Chris Matthews – The liberal MSNBC host lost control in an interview with RNC chair Reince Priebus this past week calling him “garbage” and a “racist”.

Glamour Magazine - Editor in chief Cindi Leive flew to Portland, Ore., last month to sit down with the President for an interview that will appear in the magazine’s November issue.

Facebook – A “Kill Mitt Romney” site was up for 17 days before being disabled and had 27 people “like” the page.

Unmanned Vehicle University - The world’s first university dedicated solely to training drone pilots is up and running.

TSA - The Transportation Security Administration says it has moved to fire six bag-screeners at Logan International Airport in Boston who performed inadequate luggage checks because they were distracted by their cellphones or other electronic devices.

Hurricane Issac – Liberal Hollywood stars such as Ellen Barkin and Samuel Jackson wished Hurricane Issac would have destroyed the Republican National Convention.

Consumer - U.S. consumer confidence unexpectedly weakened in August to its lowest in nine months as Americans turned more pessimistic about the short-term outlook, according to a private sector report released on Tuesday. The Conference Board, an industry group, said its index of consumer attitudes fell to 60.6 from a downwardly revised 65.4 the month before. Economists had expected an increase to 66, according to a Reuters poll.

Obama's Lowlights (9/3/12)

Campaign - The NRCC raised $11.7 million and ended the month of July with $48.9 million in cash on hand, while the DCCC raised $8.2 million and closed the month of July with $36.2 million in cash on hand. Thru July, Obama had outspent Romney 325 million to 165 million, but Romney has more cash on hand. In other news, presidential candidates have traditionally kept a low profile during their opponent's nominating celebration, but Democrats are throwing those rules out the window in an attempt to spoil Mitt Romney’s coronation as the GOP nominee. Expect Republicans to return the favor the following week at the DNC in Charlotte.

EPA - A federal court has overturned new EPA rules that would have curtailed coal power plants.

MSNBC - The Labor Department paid out hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal stimulus funds to a public relations firm to run more than 100 commercials touting the Obama administration’s “green training” job efforts on two MSNBC cable shows, records show. The commercials ran on MSNBC on shows hosted by Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann in 2009, but the contract didn’t report any jobs created, according to records reviewed recently by The Washington Times.

Planned Parenthood – A federal court ruled Texas can cut off funding for Planned Parenthood within its women’s health services program because Planned Parenthood is an abortion business.

Federal Deficit – The U.S. federal debt officially passed 16 trillion dollars on August 23rd.

Afghanistan – The U.S. military death toll has passed 2000, but no one is paying any attention to this war because the media refuses to cover it as they covered the 4,000 military personal that lost their lives fighting the Iraq War under Bush’s watch.

Democratic Budget - The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office this past week warned the economy will enter a recession next year if the country goes over the so-called fiscal cliff.

Abortion – The Republican Senate candidate Todd Akin needs to drop out of his race for his dumb comments on abortion. However, it is important to note that fewer than 3% of all abortions are due to rape and incest. That means over 97% of abortions are performed on women where a crime was not committed.

Debate Moderator - Josh Peterson at the Daily Caller notes that Martha Raddatz, the moderator of this year's vice-presidential debate, was married to Obama friend and FCC chairman Julius Genachowski.

Fast and Furious – An ATF official in charge of the Fast and Furious program has been accused of perjury after receiving a taxpayer salary, a pension fund, and bank salary.

War on Women – The major networks are pushing this war on women, but at the same time they have refused to air Ann Romney’s speech as the RNC.

Immigration - Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach's latest immigration fight pits his clients, ten Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials, up against President Barack Obama's latest directive to stop the deportation of immigrants who came to the country as children.

Twitter - President Obama's Twitter account has 18.8 million followers -- but more than half of them really don't exist, according to reports. A new Web tool has determined that 70% of Obama's crowd includes "fake followers," the New York Times reports in a story about how Twitter followers can be purchased.

Obama's Lowlights (8/30/12)

John Corzine - Federal prosecutors do not expect to file criminal charges against the former New Jersey governor. Mr. Corzine has not yet received assurances that he is free from scrutiny, but two rounds of interviews with former employees and a review of thousands of documents have left prosecutors without a case against him, say the people involved in the investigation who spoke on the condition of anonymity. Prosecutors say Corzine is more guilty of being disorganized and incompetence for MF Global’s loss of over 1 billion in investor funds.

Economy – Jobless rates are on the rise again in 44 of 50 states. Also, the White House is considering tapping oil reserves to lower gas prices. And finally, housing starts have also fallen.

Chuck Schumer – The NY Times ran an article about Schumer and his match making abilities.

Newsweek – This past week they ran a lead story by a former McCain advisor that highlights all of Obama’s shortcomings in his first term. Hard to believe they would actually run an anti-Obama article of any kind.

Campaign – Obama has been ducking questions from the White House press corp for weeks. Instead Obama has been taking on local media interviews that ask those tough questions such as his favorite food or if he had a super power what would it be? When he finally addressed the press corp Obama says his team has never “gone out of bounds” on claims that Romney is a felon, tax cheat, and has killed a former Bain employee spouse. In other news, the RNC lead the DNC with cash on hand after July – 87 million dollars to 15 million dollars.

Charity - A study released by the Chronicle of Philanthropy found that residents in states where religious participation is higher than the rest of the nation, particularly in the South, gave the greatest percentage of their discretionary income to charity. The six New England states were the stingiest contributors to charities. No surprise here, conservatives give more to charity while liberals want more government handouts.

ObamaCare - Under the Affordable Care Act, the Obama administration's signature health care reform law, medical-device manufacturers will pay a 2.3 percent tax on sales of such products starting in 2013. That tax will affect everything from surgical tools to oxygen tanks to wheelchairs. It is one of several features of the law designed to raise money to cover the uninsured -- it's expected to raise an additional $20 billion by 2019. This tax will hit seniors the hardest.

DNC – Many women attending the Democratic National Convention are angry that the facilities are not mother friendly.

Afghanistan – The Joint Chiefs of Staff airplane was damaged by rebel fire. This is more of a sign of the deteriorating conditions in Afghanistan. What’s worse, one in four military deaths is due to attacks by the Afghan police force. Still, the media refuses to cover this war in the same light as the Iraq War.

Homelessness - The homeless population in New York City has risen a stunning 18 percent since 2011, forcing the city to open nine new emergency homeless shelters in June and July. New York now accommodates a crushing total of 43,731 under the costly bureaucracy known as the Department of Homeless Services.

Richard Minter – He has a new book on Obama called “Leading from Behind”. It is a good read.
