Obama's Lowlights (3/5/10)

New Housing Plan – Obama wants to introduce a 1.5 billion dollar housing plan to help people avoid foreclosure. The plan is targeted for only 5 states out west including Nevada. The Democrat’s popularity is sinking fast, especially out west. Obama hopes this plan will help save the jobs of Senators Harry Reid and Michael Bennet. Obama is getting desperate so he feels he has to buy votes. Obama also announced pouring another billion into education. Yes, the answer to all our problems is to throw money at the issue.

ACORN – It has been reported that the much maligned organization reaped the benefits of the financial collapse while at the same time forcing financial institutions to lax their lending guidelines. ACORN is also trying to rebrand its image by changing the name of its organization.

Lobbying – Despite the recession, lobbying spending for the federal government is up over 5 percent from 2008 to 2009 to nearly 3.5 billion dollars. What does this tell us? When the government grows and spends more money, lobbying is also the beneficiary and is therefore, immune to the current recession.

Weather – For the first time in decades no place in the United States is suffering from a drought. This should quiet global warming alarmists, but they continue to insist that higher temperatures equates to more precipitation. They should look at their thermometer; temperatures are much cooler this year than past years.

Jobs Bill – This 15 billion dollar bill passed because 5 Republicans joined the Democrats to pass this awful legislation. Everyone realizes that something needs to be done to create jobs, but this legislation is not the answer.

Transparency – It has been over 7 months since Obama last gave a presidential news conference. The left and Obama chastised Bush for his failure to give many news conferences, however Bush never went more than 6 months between conferences. However, Obama has not stopped doing talk shows and other meaningless events while he ignores the press and any tough questions.

Party of No – It was revealed that House Republicans introduced 70 health care reform plans that were ignored by Democrats. So much for all that talk of the Republicans being the “party of no”.

Consumer Confidence – It is at an all time low, which is no surprise since we have high unemployment and massive deficits.

Health Care Summit – It was nice to have the summit and to televise it, but at this stage of the game who really thinks that any Democrats or Republicans are going to change their minds and work together on true reform? It is not going to happen! Now that this summit failed to gain bipartisan support, Obama is pushing for ObamaCare to have an up and down vote. This means it can pass with only 51 Senators approving the legislation. How is that for bipartisanship? The biggest legislation of our lives that will control nearly 20% of our economy is being rammed through with absolutely no bipartisan support. This partisanship will be unprecedented in our nation’s history.

Charlie Rangel – The congressional ethics committee has found the embattled New York congressman violated travel guidelines. The congressman is also facing tax evasion charges and many have been demanding he at least resign from being the ranking leader of the Ways and Means committee. And finally, after years of scrutiny, Rangel has done the right thing and stepped down from his committee chair.
