Obama's Lowlights (12/30/10)

Wikileaks – Since Julian Assange was freed from jail on bond, he has been treated by many media outlets as a hero. And what’s worse, Assange’s lawyer is livid that police reports about his rape case have been leaked to the public. Now that is irony.

Only in America – A homeless man, Eric Sheptock, has 5500 Facebook friends and refuses to work.

Dream Act – Harry Reid’s legislation to provide amnesty to millions of illegal aliens died in the Senate.

Don’t Ask Don’t Tell – The attempt to kill the military’s policy towards gay military personnel has advanced through the Senate and Obama has signed the bill into law. Meanwhile, Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates, is asking all gay military personnel to remain in the closet.

Homeland Security – Department head, Janet Napolitano, says she is creating a new commission to investigate global warming.

FCC – The government commission passed a way to regulate the internet using net neutrality, which is of course anything but neutral.

ObamaCare – The Senate Budget deal does not include funding for ObamaCare.

2010 Census – This should be a big advantage to the GOP. Republican leaning states such as Utah, Arizona, Georgia, and South Carolina will gain a single seat. Texas will gain 4 seats and Florida will each gain 2 seats. Meanwhile; Democratic leaning states such as Illinois, New Jersey, Michigan, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania will lose a single seat. Ohio and New York will each lose 2 seats. There is some hope for liberals with Washington and Nevada gaining seats while Missouri and Louisiana will lose a seat. The federal government will distribute 400 billion in aid to help the states to redraw their districts that will go into effect for the 2012 elections.

Arlen Specter – The outgoing Pennsylvania Senator gave a bitter and ugly farewell address by attacking adversaries.

111th Congress – They passed the most legislation since the LBJ administration – not surprising since the Democrats essentially had filibuster proof majorities.

The Recovery Act – At least 140 billion dollars of the stimulus was spent on faith based organization.

The War on Christmas – Atheists around the country have spent millions on propaganda to undercut Christmas. One billboard reads Christmas is a “myth”. Why do people have to fight over religious beliefs?

Gas – The average national price for a gallon of gas is once again moving close 3 dollars.
