Obama's Lowlights (5/21/10)

ObamaCare – Many corporations are exploring the idea of dropping employee healthcare and looking into paying penalties and fines instead. Yet, Obama has been out defending the worst legislation in our lifetimes. In other news, the CBO is increasing its estimate for the cost of this healthcare reform legislation to over 1 trillion dollars. And yes, this does not include the 250 billion cost for the doctor fix.

Tennessee – The state is a national disaster area due to heavy flooding. However, this disaster is playing third fiddle behind the BP oil spill and the NY terror attempt, which it should. But the Obama administration owes Tennessee citizens more than what they have publically stated.

Pakistan Taliban – On two separate occasions the Obama administrations has claimed to have killed the head of this organization, but they have been false alarms. He is alive and kicking and predicting more suicide bombers in the major cities of the United States.

Illegal Immigrants – One New York Illegal immigrant received a 150K dollar gift from the taxpayers before he was deported. Now exactly why is NY in such financial turmoil?

Unions – Obama has changed a rule that will make it easier for people to create labor unions. In the past, if people did not vote on a union initiative, it was assumed their vote was “no”. Under the rule change, pro union supporters only need a majority of the people that vote to say “yes”.

Salaries – Obama’s most famous quote of his presidency came this past week: “I do think at a certain point you have made enough money”. So, is just a matter of time before the federal government starts to regulate wealth?

Greece – Global markets are declining sharply due to fear that the ripple effect from Greece could hit home. This has occurred even though countries have united and given Greece a 1 trillion dollar loan. Face facts, the U.S. market would not be so reactive if it were not for our tremendous debt.

Wind Power – After 9 years of litigation, Secretary of the Interior, Ken Salazar, stated they will move forward with plans to build a wind farm in the Nantucket Sound. Yes, most of the people pushing for renewable energy want it, just not in their views. Besides, the energy from the wind farm will cost 27 cents a kilowatt hour, which is three times the cost of other energy sources!

Food Stamps and unemployment – One in every 7.5 Americans is receiving welfare aid in the form of food stamps. Another study has shown people are turning down work to remain on unemployment – which has been expanded to nearly 2 years.

Hawaii 1st – The Democrats will concede this seat to Republican Charles Djou in the May 22nd special election. The big contest will be in November and it remains to be seen if the GOP can hold the seat.

Miranda – It appears the White House is rethinking its policy of providing Miranda Rights to enemy combatants. About time!

Oil Drilling – Surprisingly, the American public still favors drilling offshore by a 12 point margin (50%-38%), despite the tragic BP oil spill.

Terrorism – Three more suspects were arrested for their connections to the failed Time Square bomb attempt. Ironically, the Obama administration is cutting 53 million in federal funding to the city to fight terror. This is odd considering the only reason the city averted disaster was because of the bomber’s incompetence. In other news, Denis Blair, the head of the national intelligence director has resigned. This is not surprising given that Blair has been critical of the Obama White House. Also, North Korea is to blame for the sinking of a South Korean boat, what will Obama do?

SCOTUS Nominee Kagan – The White House is preventing Kagan from doing any media interviews.

Elections – Arlen Specter’s loss in the Pennsylvania Democratic Primary is could be a referendum on Obama policies. Obama bent over backwards to get the flip flopping Specter elected. On the other hand, Critz’s win in PA 12 was a huge victory for the Democrats.
