Obama's Lowlights (10/12/09)

Afghanistan – While Obama procrastinates on his strategy decision, more and more American soldiers lose their lives. There is no question that Obama’s inaction is putting our troops at risk. More American Soldiers have lost their lives thus far this year than the first four years of the conflict. Also, it is very curious how the main stream media is not covering this situation. Obama wants congress to pass legislation without reading it, but he continues to take his time on Afghanistan, which needs urgency. This makes very little sense. The media is not even covering the deaths of our troops. Obama passed a law stating that the media could cover soldier’s funerals with the families consent. The media pushed Bush for this right, but now they have it under Obama they are not using it. Only the Associated Press (AP) is using this privilege. It is amazing how the biased media changes it news reporting strategy based on whether the President is a Republican or Democrat.

ObamaCare – Congress has been working on combining both the Baucus Bill and the Public Option Bill. The difference between the two plans for a family of four making 63 thousand dollars is about 2,300 dollars more using the Baucus Bill. Thus, this family can expect to pay about 11% of its income for health insurance under the Baucus bill as opposed to 7% for the Public Option Bill. Of course the Public Option Bill will run up the federal deficit much more than the Baucus Bill. Both bills have their shortcomings and neither will pass without the Senate using the “nuclear option”. The nuclear option will enable the Senate to pass legislation with a 51% majority instead of a 60% majority. CBO scoring of the more conservative Baucus Bill reveals it may help reduce the deficit, but it still will not cover 6% of the people, it would cut over 400 Billion in Medicare, and it will increase taxes to pay for the plan. Keep in mind that the CBO scoring is not official because the bill is not in legislative form.

Roman Polanski – His arrest has nothing to do with Obama, but it does indicate the state of mind of his supporters. Europeans, liberals, and Hollywood elite want the U.S. to free the rapist. Polanski jumped bail 31 years ago to live abroad after being arrested for drugging and then raping a 13 year old girl. He should be finally brought to justice. It is inexcusable for anyone to defend this no good excuse of a human being.

Patriot Act – The FBI used unwarranted surveillance to thwart a terrorist attack in New York City. Hopefully, this will end the left’s argument the Patriot Act is violating our civil liberties. Obama should be commended for continuing with this Bush policy. However, it would be nice if he and liberals would give Bush some credit for thwarting this attack instead of blaming him for everything that has gone wrong, like Chicago failing to win the Olympics.

Guantanamo – No big surprise that Obama will not close the detention center before his one year deadline is up. This was Obama’s first misguided and naïve move as President.

Nobel Peace Prize – Obama wins the award for his fairytale talk and very little action. If Obama had any class he would have declined the award. Obama, as well as recent winners – Gore and Carter, has completely diminished it as nothing more than a farce handed out by a liberal think tank.
