Obama's Lowlights (1/23/10)

The Economy – Unemployment remained at 10% for the month of December. The economy still is not creating more jobs than it is losing. In fact, the economy shed another 85,000 jobs in December after only losing 11,000 in November. This is clearly bad news for the Democrats who need to see unemployment decrease drastically over the next 10 months or it will be a dismal midterm election cycle for them.

Scott Brown – Brown’s victory in Massachusetts is without question a referendum on Obama and his liberal policies.

Ben Nelson – The Nebraska Senator is now asking for the removal of the bribe he received for his constituents (who do not want it) in the Senate version of ObamaCare.

Harry Reid – The Senate majority leader made a racist statement about Barack Obama and African-Americans in general. If any person made a public statement similar to the one Reid made at their place of employment, they would have lost their job. Reid is 4th in line to become president and therefore, he should be a role model, leading by example, and should be held to a higher set of standards. If Nevadans reelect this sorry case of an individual back into office this year, it would be yet another travesty of the American political system.

War Funding – Obama is asking for 708 billion to fund the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. This is by far more funding than Bush ever asked the taxpayers to pay. Will the left be fair and balanced and scrutinize Obama as much as they did Bush over the wars?

Haiti – Estimates claim the death toll will rise to over one hundred thousand. And to make matters worse a second earthquake of 6.1 hit the nation. To Obama’s credit he has sent in the military to help in the recovery effort to save lives. This would have been a no brainer for any president. Many are criticizing the American response and comparing it to Katrina. People have overreacted to the government’s response to both the Katrina hurricane and the Haiti earthquake.

Taxing Banks – Obama wants to tax banks that accepted bailouts, but at the same time he wants them to start handing out more loans. Once again, this is contradictory policy. It is highly unlikely that this will pass.

Ed Schultz – The liberal commentator suggested that Democrats should stuff the election boxes to keep “those bastards” from winning in Massachusetts.

Unions – They have forced the Democrats in Washington to exclude union members from the “Cadillac” Health Plan tax. Remember Obama’s promise of a new style of politics of not caving to special interests and lobbyists. ObamaCare is loaded with sweetheart deals for politicians, the AARP, pharmaceutical companies, and now unions to name a few.
