Obama's Lowlights (6/11/10)

Illegal Immigrants – Obama has made it clear he is against punishing business owners who knowingly hire illegal immigrants. He has also made it clear he won’t enforce the Arizona law. So what is the logic behind this decision and how exactly is this going to help a deteriorating situation in our country?

June – Obama has designated June to be gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender pride month. It has always been a mystery why months are dedicated to certain races, genders, and ethnicities. If everyone is equal, then why bother celebrating our differences.

Oil Spill – It seems that the only remaining solution to end this misery is to drill a relief well since everything else has failed. And this will not be done until August. The Obama administration has started civil and criminal investigations into the disaster. This is idiotic and will only have an adverse effect on the capping and clean up of the oil spill. At this point, BP believes it is capturing about half the oil with their latest attempt to cap the leak.

Terrorism – al-Qaida has announced their third ranked official, Mustafa al-Yazid has been killed along with his family. It is assumed the killings were the result of a missile strike. Meanwhile, Iran is laughing at the latest round of sanctions that have been levied against the rogue nation.

The Economy – Even though the United States economy has been improving with economic indicators pointing in the right direction, a double dip recession is still plausible. One reason for this possibility is due to the economic struggles in Europe and of course our massive debt. The economy added 431,000 jobs in May and decreased the unemployment rate to 9.7%. All but 20,000 of these jobs were added for the census. Thus, employment still has not turned the corner.

Teachers – More than 150,000 teachers lost their jobs in 2009 despite millions in stimulus funding. The real losers in this situation are the students. California has a student to teacher ratio approaching 30!

Government Pension Programs – State and federal retirement plans are estimated to be 1 trillion dollars in debt that will need taxpayer bailouts.

The Census – An undercover reporter showed government waste and fraud at the lowest levels paying part time employees for work they admittedly did not do.

Quid Pro Quo – Apparently Joe Sestak was not the only politician offered a job in the White House to drop out of the Democratic Primary. Andrew Romanoff, a Democratic candidate for Colorado Senator was also offered a job.

The National Debt – It toped 13 trillion dollars and is rising 5 billion each day. The federal government will spend 30,500 dollars per household in 2010.

Blue Dogs – In actuality there really does not seem to be much of a difference in the voting records of supposedly conservative “Blue Dog” Democrats and liberal Democrats in both the house and Senate. Blue Dogs vote against Obama approximately 1% of the time more than liberal democrats.
