Obama's Lowlights (11/26/10)

Bush Tax Cuts – It appears that the Republicans may win their first battle of the Obama presidency since the Democrats are leaning towards extending the tax cuts to not only the middle class, but the wealthy. We’ll have to wait and see.

Wisconsin – Is planning on becoming the 6th state to enact similar legislation as the Arizona Immigration Law. The law would allow local police to enforce federal laws.

RNC – More bad news for Obama and the Democrats is that the Republican National Committee (RNC) may replace the inept Michael Steele. Remember, the Democrat National Committee raised more charitable contributions than the RNC for the 2010 midterm elections.

Stimulus Waste – The committee tasked with investing stimulus waste convened at a lavish hotel to discuss matters.

Darwinism – Liberals are big fans of Darwinism principles when it comes to the creation of life, but they conveniently forget these adaptation principles when it comes to the environment’s ability to overcome climate change or when it comes to entitlement programs and survival of the fittest.

ObamaCare – Thus far 111 waivers have been handed out to corporations and unions. This only proves this legislation is flawed.

Post Office – The government organization lost 8.5 billion last year.

Rangel – His ethics trial is underway and at one point he walked out to protest its fairness. He was later found guilty on 11 of 13 counts. His case and punishment will move before a full ethics committee for review.

Obama 2012 – There have been reports that several Democratic pollsters are urging Obama not to run for reelection in 2012. I think it is a bit premature to say that Obama does not have a chance in 2012.

Election Data – During the 2010 midterms 60% of whites voted for Republicans and only 37% for Democrats – this is the largest differential ever. However, the Democrats still dominated the African-American vote and received over a 2 to 1 advantage in Hispanic voting – That was enough to save Harry Reid in Nevada.

The Food Safety Modernization Act – Democrats are pushing for this government takeover of the food industry during the lame duck session. They are also pushing for amnesty illegal immigration reform.

Government Jobs – According to a USA Today article the average federal government employee earns 123K annually including benefits. The average private sector worker earns half that at 61K.

START Treaty – The nuclear disarmament treaty with Russia is being blocked by Arizona Senator John Kyl who wants to delay the vote to next year.

GM – General Motors has gone public and is now only 50% owned by the government. This is good news for Obama, but it is far too early to declare victory.
