Obama's Lowlights (10/1/10)

ObamaCare – Health and Human Services head, Kathleen Sebelius admits that healthcare insurance premiums will not only go up, they will go up by a substantial amount. West Virginia Democratic Senate Candidate, Joe Manchin, has flipped flopped on ObamaCare. Since the polls have tightened, Manchin now believes parts of ObamaCare should be repealed.

Economy – More bad news for the Obama administration came this past week when it was revealed those living in poverty increased by over 10% from 2008 to 2009 (39 million to over 43 million). This equates to nearly one in seven Americans living in poverty. In other news, Larry Summers will be the third member of Obama’s economic team to leave his post by the end of the year.

Global Warming / Climate Change – The Obama administration has redefined this subject to be called Global Climate Disruption.

Consumer Financial Protection Czar – Elizabeth Warren was selected to head this new post that is chartered to help the middle class. This is just what middle class Americans need – more bureaucracy. In any event, the Warren appointment bypassed congressional hearings.

Harry Reid – He is trying to piggy back an immigration proposal “The Dream Act” to the defense budget bill. The Dream Act gives certain illegal immigrants amnesty. In other news, Reid is on record for calling Delaware Senatorial candidate Coons as his pet and New York Senator Gillibrand as hot. Harry certainly has a way with words.

Lisa Murkowski – The Alaska Senator lost her Republican primary to rerun for her seat. Instead of bowing out gracefully, Murkowski is yet another in a long line of politicians who feel they are entitled to be in Washington. She is going to be on the November ballot as a write in candidate which is good news for the Democrats since her action may cancel votes for Jim Miller and give the seat to the Democrat candidate.

Illegal Immigration – Some outlets are reporting that the Senate is close to getting the 60 needed votes for immigration reform that will include the Reid “Dream Act”. Democrats are desperate for votes this midterm and they need Hispanics to turnout in droves.

BP Oil Spill – BP has officially declared the oil well dead five months after it exploded.

Campaign – The Democrats collected more campaign contributions than the GOP for the month of August. Part of the reason for this is that many Republican donations are bypassing the Republican National Committee and going straight to candidates.

Americans – A recent poll indicated 75% of Americans dream job would be becoming a sport or movie star. Whatever happened to Americans wanting to teach or run their own business? This poll indicates our morals as a society are obviously digressing.

Bob Woodward – He has a new book out on “Obama’s Wars” and it does not paint a very good picture about their handling of the Afghan War and the infighting within the administration.

Don’t Ask Don’t Tell – Obama’s plan to lift the military’s policy on gay soldiers failed to pass a filibuster in the Senate with three Democrats voting with the Republicans.
