Obama's Lowlights (5/7/10)

ObamaCare – The IRS will hire an additional 16,000 employees and cost the taxpayers an additional 10 billion to be the watchdog over the new ObamaCare legislation. How exactly is this making healthcare more affordable? The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services issued a report telling how this horrendous legislation will make healthcare more expensive. Within 10 years healthcare expenditures will account for 21% of GDP, up from 16% today! Also, the Obama White House has covered up a report by their cabinet department, the Health and Human Services; that clearly states that healthcare costs and insurance premiums will continue to go up under ObamaCare legislation. This report was submitted a week prior to the historic vote that passed ObamaCare into law.

Global Warming – CNN’s Alan Weisman did a piece called “Is the Earth Striking Back?” and he blames global warming for the recent spat of earthquakes and of course the volcanic eruption in Iceland. Weisman should be ecstatic about large volcanic eruptions since they have a cooling effect (a year or two) on the planet since the ash blocks the sun rays.

Immigration – Obama slammed Arizona for making it illegal to be an illegal alien. It is good this upsets Obama, now maybe he will do something about protecting our Southern borders, which is a national security issue. Also on this issue, one can only wonder why there have not been any negative media stories about the people protesting this law like they have ridiculed the Tea Party protesters. Also, it is interesting how liberals feel it is Constitutional to check American citizens for proof of health insurance, but it is Unconstitutional to check for legal citizenship. Texas will be the next state to follow Arizona’s lead and pass immigration reform legislation.

Food Safety Modernization Act – This is another government power grab that is being discussed to add more regulation and mandates to farmers and food manufacturers. Once again, the intention is good, but it will make U.S. farmers and food manufacturers less competitive against foreign farmers and food manufacturers.

General Electric – GE reported nearly 11 billion in profits during the 1st quarter, but did not pay one dime in federal taxes. GE reported a loss from U.S. operations and a gain from foreign activities.

Climate Change Legislation – Has stalled in the Senate because the only GOP sponsor of the legislation, Lindsay Graham, has pulled his support.

Steven Rattner – Rattner is Obama’s car czar and his former equity firm was fined 12 million by the SEC. Apparently, Rattner had bribed corporate officials to win their business. Rattner has yet to comment on the ruling.

Chicago – A few Democratic Illinois State Senators are pleading with Governor, Pat Quinn, to send in the National Guard to quell crime.

Charlie Crist – Guys like Crist may save Obama and Congressional Democrats from a massive beat down. If more Republicans decide to run as independents the only winner will be Obama.

The Euro – The Greek economic collapse is spreading to other countries that use the Euro as their monetary policy. The United States and Obama should take note of the astronomical European debt levels from social programs that are destroying their monetary system. They should also take not of the violent protests by the masses upset that welfare and handouts will be cut.

Puerto Rico – There has been a movement, once again, to see if Puerto Rico wants to become the nation’s 51st state.

Mandatory Paid Sick Leave – This is the next entitlement that Obama and the Democrats will try to pass.

Oil Drilling – The Gulf oil spill will put an end to bipartisan support to expand drilling off our costs and on fragile tundra. Rigs that fail must have a safety mechanism to cap off the leak, and obviously this rig did not have such a feature. This is bad news for energy companies and all Americans.

Economy – Some god news for Obama, the economy grew at 3.2% during the first quarter and consumer spending is up 3.6%.
