Obama's Lowlights (1/6/11)

Hugo Chavez – A Mexican paper revealed that the Venezuelan leader and his family have nearly 150 million dollars in American banks. The family also owns a plethora of lavish luxuries that Chavez routinely criticizes as the evils of capitalism.
Middle East Peace Talks – The on again and off again peace talks between Israel and Palestine are off again.

Marijuana – More high school seniors smoke marijuana than tobacco. Twenty-one percent of seniors say they have smoked pot in the past month.

Science – A recent Pew poll found that only 6% of all scientists are conservatives and 55% are liberals. But the poll sample came from the American Association for the Advancement of Science, which is advocacy group that lobbies for stem cell research and green projects.

New Tax Law – Over 60% of Americans favor the new law and only 22% disapprove. The statistics are even amongst Democrats, Republicans, and Independents.

Public Education – This sector lost more jobs than any other sector in 2010, losing nearly 150 thousand jobs (about 2% of its workforce).

Congressional Benefits – Newly elected Republican congressman from Illinois, Joe Walsh, has become the 3rd Republican to opt out of healthcare and other benefits.

Obama Cabinet – It will remain mostly unchanged heading into his third year.

Afghanistan – The United Nations has issued a report citing that the country is less secure than when the war started.

Law Enforcement – The murders of on duty policemen have gone up 37% this past year.

Hawaii – The house the Obama family is vacationing at in the liberal state has a net value of 6.5 million, but its property taxes are a mere 300 dollars. No wonder liberals want to increase taxes on the wealthy.

111th Congress – They accumulated 3.2 trillion dollars of debt, more than the first 100 Congress’s accumulated over 200 years.

Appointments – Obama, like all presidents, has abused the recess appointment clause of the Constitution filling 6 more openings during the Christmas recess.

Rangel – The tax cheat is soliciting contributions to a trust he set up to pay for his defense of ethical violations.

112th Congress – After the new Congress is sworn in, their first order of business is to read the Constitution out loud – about time.
