ObamaCare – The President is traveling the country to drum up support for health care reform. In one speech he claimed “Premiums will go down 3000%”. If that is true, then he is saying health care insurance will be free for everyone! Talk about misinformation. The latest Democratic “trickery” to pass the bill is to use a procedure called “Deem and Pass” or what is also referred to as the Slaughter rule. The House passed the Slaughter rule by a 223-203 margin. In essence, the House will pass the Senate version of ObamaCare without actually voting on it. This has got to be Unconstitutional! Also, the Associated Press announced that premiums for health insurance will rise under ObamaCare.
John Edwards – The 2008 presidential candidate is the latest Democrat facing serious allegations. Edwards is being investigated for improperly using campaign funds to cover up his extra-marital affair and that he fathered a child with this woman.
The Deficit – The CBO says the Obama administrations estimate of an 8.6 trillion dollar debt over the next decade is too low. According to CBO calculations, the debt will be 9.8 trillion in 10 years. This is a dire situation and something needs to be done immediately to stop the bleeding. The government should hit all employees with a 10% salary cut for starters.
Education – Obama’s push to make sure everyone has a right to a college education is flat out wrong. Not all children are college material and good trade schools are the answer. Also, Obama’s push to have the government absorb the college costs for community and federal workers and volunteers is misguided. Besides, even for kids that would do well in college, the negatives are starting to outweigh the benefits because of the outrageous costs.
Unemployment – Citizens now qualify for 99 weeks of unemployment benefits – Nearly 2 years! Unemployment is becoming our latest entitlement.
Detroit – Local officials are looking into turning a lot of the run down city into farm land. This may actually be a step in the right direction.
Illegal Aliens – Politicians are looking into enforcing a national identification card as a requirement for all eligible American employees. No one is certain that this will cut down on foreigners working illegally after all; it is matter of time when fraudulent ID cards will be made.
Poverty – The Obama administration is deriving a new formula to calculate the poverty level. The new formula will take into account many more factors than income and food costs. The formula will include other expenditures such as housing, healthcare, childcare, and so on. This will put more people into poverty and qualify even more Americans for social programs that are already bankrupting our nation.
Education – The Democrats want to eliminate the private sector from handing out any educational loans to students. This will, in effect, give the government full control over all educational loans. And since they Democrats do not have the 60 votes they need to pass the legislation in the Senate, they are going to use reconciliation. Yes, reconciliation will be the answer to pass all liberal ideological legislation.
Israel – The White House sent Joe Biden to Israel to try to improve relations between the two nations, which has been strained, since Obama has yet to visit the nation. Worse yet, Obama has visited many Muslim countries and enemies of Israel. I doubt Biden will ease any animosity or concerns that the Israel people and government have towards the United States. In fact, U.S. – Israeli relations are as strained as they have ever been in the two nation’s histories.
