Obama's Lowlights (11/12/10)

Economy – The good news is that the economy added 151 thousand jobs in October, but the unemployment rate remained at 9.6%. This was the best jobs month since April. The gross domestic product grew a mere 2% in the third quarter. For a healthy economy the gross domestic product needs to grow more than 3% per quarter. Unemployment levels in European countries are averaging well over 10% with Spain approaching 20%. Remember, Spain has moved to a green jobs economy – similar to what Obama and left want to create in the U.S.
Afghanistan War – Approximately 8 billion in U.S. funding for war time reconstruction efforts has been unaccounted for.

North and South Korea – Tensions continue to escalate between the two nations. Recently, both countries returned fire in the Demilitarization Zone.

G20 – Eighteen nations scolded both China and the U.S. for the devaluing of their currencies.

The Fed – They pumped more money into our economy to spur growth (Quantitative Easing - QE). This is another serious mistake by the government because the chief objective of QE is to lower interest rates, but interest rates are already at all time lows. By buying 600 billion in U.S. Treasuries the Government may only achieve to increase inflation rates.

Polls – 21% of Americans are satisfied. This is the lowest level ever measured by Gallup. The previous low was 24% in 1982. And what’s worse for Obama, 47% of Democrats want to have Obama challenged in a primary in 2012.

Global Birth Rates – As a result of low birth rates, by 2050, there will be a drop of 49 million persons in the under age 5 category and an increase of 1.2 billion people in the over 60 age group.

Obama Travel – Obama’s latest trip to Indonesia consisted of 3000 people and cost the American taxpayers nearly 200 million dollars per day for 10 days.

Elections – We know Democrats got defeated in a big way on the national level, but they also lost a total of 680 state seats or an average of nearly 14 per state. In fact, 19 state legislators switched their allegiance to the Republicans. And liberals also lost some key initiatives such as legalizing marijuana in California by 8 points.

San Francisco – The city has banned handing out toys will happy meals. I am not entirely against the concept, but this obviously seems unconstitutional.

Nancy Pelosi – The latest news on the former House Speaker is that she will now attempt to be the House minority leader. After many House Democrats ran away from her during their campaigns, it is not surprising her peers are asking her not to run for the position.
